David K. Anderson  --- MIS Business Application Developer

Mr. Anderson is a 25-year veteran of the MIS application development arena.  His experience spans several major technology shifts and he is qualified to work in all.  As a developer he is able to understand the problem, visualize the solution and implement its successful conclusion.  His ability to be both technical and non(technical) is unique.  Knowledge of all tiers of the MIS solution includes extensive knowledge of the major RDBM's, programming languages and tools.  He has strong knowledge in how design works to achieve project goals relating to quality and productivity.  As the developer of the NETBiz/NEF software library he has demonstrated mastery in that design process.

Education

Mr. Anderson's skills can be traced back to an education and experience received while an employee of Electronic Data Systems from 1979 through 1986.  He successfully completed the well respected Systems Engineering Development program (SED) with honors.  Working in a small group that focused on the utilities industry he was able to participate in several large-scale MIS application development efforts.  These projects were all ground floor development efforts that included all SDLC life-cycle activities.  As a member of the CASE tools team, he began to learn new approaches to designing component-based software and how to use tools to make the effort faster and better.  In 1981 he participated in the largest data conversion effort ever as ATT was deregulated and broken up.  At General Motors, he learned and practiced a revolutionary new relational data-modeling technique (ERA) from Dick Rezeppa, the guy who invented it!

Commercial Application Development

In 1992, Mr. Anderson joined a small startup and served as the lead technical architect of what grew into a successful and eventually publicly traded company specializing in making software for the pharmaceutical industry.  Using ideas learned while at EDS in the IBM mainframe application development space he was able to apply those ides to the newly emerging client/server development arena.  Working with products from Gupta, Borland and eventually PowerSoft he was able to use design to solve the problem of building software that needed to be flexible enough to work within differing end user environments.

More Application Development

Partnering with Sybase in 1996, Mr. Anderson served as the lead architect of client/server technology for the newly deregulated natural gas utility market.  Software developed for a major natural gas distribution company (LDC) in Massachusetts allowed for rapid growth in this new business domain.  A data model developed by Anderson was used to manage the billing of customers that were choosing to buy gas from a third-party marketer instead of directly from the LDC.  Lots of data and lots of monthly billing cycles.

In 2001, more development in the utility and telecom industry led Mr. Anderson to newer technologies and the internet.  At ServiSense.com in Newton Massachusetts he worked with a team to build a high traffic website that allowed customer signup for telephone service and other bundled utilities.  Back at the LDC, he led the conversion from SQL Server databases to Oracle and introduced web/services for the first time at that company.

Consulting

Currently, Mr. Anderson is doing a variety of consulting work in the Boston area using a variety of technologies.  As the lead technical software developer at IPIFINI he is part of a team that is trying to revolutionize the process of inventing.  His data model and object-oriented software is helping to bring these ideas to life and allow this firm to flourish.
